Mar 12: Teeshirt competition update

My name is Charlotte, I'm 16 years old and I am a huge fan of WWF and Earth Hour! I'm in the process of writing a letter to Mr Kevin Rudd notifying him of my concern about our footprint on the Earth and my suggestions of what we can do for the future. And so begins one of the winnning entries in our Tee-shirt giveaway.

Last year I got all my friends involved and text messaged them on the hour to make sure they participated which I must admit did annoy them greatly. I'm in the process of writing a letter to Mr Kevin Rudd notifying him of my concern about our footprint on the Earth and my suggestions of what we can do for the future such as:

  • offices in the city turning off their lights at night
  • having Earth Hour EVERY night all around Australia
  • having timers on shower heads automatically turning them off after 5mins
  • switching off lights in the city at a certain time at night.

These are just some of the ideas that I think wouldn't be that hard but very beneficial to our world.

This year I was supposed to be going to the Rise Against Music concert but when I found out that Earth Hour was on that night I of course couldn't go as I had to stay at home and make sure my family participated as well as my friends. I will be having a candle light dinner and play cards all night so that the television is also off. Earth Hour is a great start to making the world a better place but I think it should be made a weekly or even better a daily procedure. Its only an hour and it does amazing things for the world.

Keep up the great work guys! Number one Fan. Charlotte.
