Feb 23: School Earth Hour competition

The Australian Sustainable Schools Intiative (AuSSI) ACT invites students to write a poem, create an e-card or take a photo that relates to Earth Hour.

Entries must highlight the benefits of participating in Earth hour and promote ways to save electricity.

Prizes and categories

The overall winner becomes a 2010 Canberra Earth Hour ambassador and wins $1,000 for their school.

Primary - write an Earth Hour poem. Prize is $100 and mentoring from Jack Waterford, Editor-at-Large, The Canberra Times.

Year 7 to 9 - create an Earth Hour e-card. Prize is $100 and mentoring from the Managing Director of Zoo Group, one of Canberra’s leading design, advertising and internet houses.

Year 10 to 12 - take a photo that conveys the message of Earth Hour. Prize is $100 and mentoring from the Owner and Manager of Hot Shots Photography.
